Purchasing a business throughout a lockdown takes courage and a high level of self-confidence. Mr. Kuda Mukanganise purchased Take 5@55 through Harvey Silver Hodgkinson earlier in the year. His new business in the city centre of Manchester adds to the cafe Kuda already owns in Tafford’s Ifly Centre. We caught up with the owners recently to see how they were getting on.

What do you love about being your own boss?

It allows me to be creative, innovative and at the same time creating opportunities for others who are not in my position.

What has been the hardest aspect of running your own business?

The hardest part is ensuring that the business remains trading even when the environment is not favourable so that your employees can have something to take home to their families.

What is your favourite aspect of owning a business in Manchester City Centre?

The diversity of the customers in Manchester City Centre.

What does the future hold for Take 5@55?

The idea is to make it a cafe of choice for people in Manchester City Centre.

What keeps you focused?

The objective of growing our enterprise.

What is your best piece of advice for someone looking to start their own business?

Be confident in yourself and be willing to do the hard work required for you to achieve being your own boss.
